The Toy Guyz Review the Butterfly Garden by Insect Lore

The Butterfly Garden from Insect Lore is a really fun way to bring a little bit of nature into your home while teaching kids and grown-ups all about butterflies. A couple of years ago we tried one of these Butterfly Gardens at the toy store. It was really fascinating. After you purchase your Butterfly garden you send away for the butterflies which are really caterpillars at first. Within about three weeks they changed into chrysalides, and then they emerge as Painted Lady Butterflies. We had about four butterflies and they were all beautiful and healthy. The butterflies were fed a simple solution of sugar water. We observed that the butterflies seemed to get excited each time they were fed. This was the only time we saw an almost spastic fluttering from the butterflies. I guess they really liked that sugar water. Overall the experience was great! We learned so much about butterflies and their habits. Our customers were absolutely fascinated by the Butterfly Garden. After several days of observing these wonderful creatures we released them outside in the flower bed outside the store. They stayed around for awhile but eventually went on to explore their new world elsewhere.

If you have a kid that likes bugs, butterflies or science - we highly recommend the Butterfly Garden. It's a great way of teaching children about nature and the transitions that butterflies go through. This is a science kit that is definitely Toy Guyz approved!
